Report on a Symposium Held at Boston University
Presentations on the “Moral Philosophy of Japan” given at a Symposium on Moral and Social Responsibility
A symposium entitled “The Ethics of Global Competence” took place at Boston University on Thursday, April 5, 2012, in accordance with the provisions of the academic exchange agreement between that institution and Reitaku University.
This symposium was planned to coincide with the publication of “Happiness and Virtue beyond East and West: Toward a New Global Responsibility” (Charles Tuttle and Co.), a volume of essays representing the collaborative efforts of the Center for Moral Science and Education of Reitaku University and the Center for Character and Social Responsibility at Boston University. The symposium highlighted some of the results of this joint project.
Presentations were given by Dr. Osamu Nakayama, President of Reitaku University and its Center for Moral Science and Education, Professor Shujiro Mizuno, Faculty of Foreign Studies and Professor Peter Luff, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Reitaku University. These were followed by a lively question and answer session and the whole symposium generated an enthusiastic response from those in attendance.
